Founded in 1988, The Washington County Historical Society has since been guided by the following mission:
“To preserve and promote the beautification of the historic sites and structures within Washington County. To discover, collect, preserve and display artifacts relevant to Washington County’s history. To inform and promote an interest in said historic properties and artifacts through educational programs, exhibits, lectures and special activities. To advise and participate in activities of other organizations and individuals with related purposes.”
Today, the WCHS owns and operates two historical properties, The Port o’ Plymouth Museum in Plymouth and The Davenport Homestead in Creswell.
